Creating Value
The City of Waco envisions a transformative project that will complement the Floyd Casey Development and rejuvenate the 40-acre Hart-Patterson Track & Field site, turning it into a dynamic public landscape inclusive to all. This design will provide an inclusive playground, along with other natural and recreational amenities to create a regional park destination.
An Inclusive, Cultural Connection
Sustainable strategies and health and wellness are at the forefront of this mixed-use development. A (5K) perimeter loop trail has been planned as a part of the first phase of development with future phases of trails that will connect into the greater system. Additionally, environmentally sound solutions have been incorporated into the overall design, including rain gardens with floating curbs, permeable paving, and a diverse street tree program.
Engaging Authentic Waco
The Floyd Casey site offers a unique opportunity for park goers to connect with nature within the neighborhood. The Waco Creek corridor will provide a natural spine for the park master plan and will support a variety of spaces and connections inviting people into the park and to experience the authentic side of Waco’s natural environment. In addition to the natural creek, a wetland park will also provide a more nature-based experience in the core of the master plan while also capturing, cleansing, and reducing the amount of site stormwater entering natural waterways.
