The Good Land
The name Goodland pays homage to the “good land” which is threaded throughout the community and its neighboring cities. It also honors the good people, places and experiences you’re sure to find here. The Retreat, the name of this community hub becomes a place where all neighbors can come to socialize and convene. Its a place that allows families to come, have fun, and stay all day – while promoting health and wellness.
Connected Community
A central feature of the new town are the Soap Creek and Mountain Creek corridors. These two corridors offer a tremendous natural open space amenity for Goodland and the City of Grand Prairie. Working with a team of environmental designers, trail planners, and grant writers, GJLA has developed a master plan will offer a variety of civic amenities and a multi-use trail network that connects Goodland and Grand Prairie to the region.
Integrating Nature
Encompassing nearly 5,000 acres of land, Goodland has a large footprint on the landscape. GJLA and our partners have developed a landscape concept to re-establish the Blackland Prairie as a strategy to conserve water, create habitat and promote a diverse and dynamic landscape with people can engage.
Goodland Boulevard aims to re-imagine stormwater management by transforming it into an amenity while prioritizing sustainability. Through the replacement of traditional stormwater pipes with surface drainage and containment systems, water infiltration is facilitated, mitigating downstream stormwater surges. This innovative approach not only addresses environmental concerns but also creates opportunities for additional community amenities. Incorporating biking and hiking trails alongside the stormwater containment infrastructure enhances connectivity within the community presently and sets a foundation for future development. Furthermore, the project prioritizes native flora in its landscaping, promoting biodiversity and ecosystem health. By integrating native landscapes, Goodland Boulevard reduces maintenance needs and fosters a resilient environment that enhances the area’s natural beauty while supporting local wildlife habitats.
