Urban Gateways

Rooted in Community

This on-going effort works to support the mission and vision of Near Southside Inc., a non-profit dedicated to the redevelopment and revitalization of the Near Southside district, located just south of downtown Fort Worth. Initiated over 25 years ago by a small coalition of business owners and community members with a vision, the Near Southside district is now a state designated Cultural District, local destination, and home to a unique and vibrant urban community.

Build for the future

The Near Southside district has seen exponential growth over the last few years and has become a showcase for urban and adaptive re-use development in the Fort Worth area. As this growth continues, special attention is required to ensure the design and implementation of walkable and bikeable public infrastructure, such as complete streets and public spaces. This supports the future viability of the neighborhood through a connected, dynamic, and accessible urban environment.

Advocate Identity

The Near Southside is special because of the rich and unique history of the people that make up this district. “Once a Southsider, always a Southsider” is a saying that still rings true as this neighborhood embodies a local entrepreneurial spirit that is indicative of a truly unique and creative community. As the growth continues, it is important to stay ardent about the future and to advocate for development that reflects this authentic spirit.
