Tim Guana Park is a signature urban park that represents the ‘living room’ of Downtown Ennis. The park will create a sustainable place for people to gather, recreate and celebrate their community with long term value for the neighborhood and identity of the city.
One of the most prominent benefits the site offers is the existing canopy of heritage trees scattered around the site. The design has been carefully crafted to ensure the survival of these trees, tying the park to the surrounding historic neighborhood and providing valuable shade and relief from the sun during hot Texas summers.
The park serves as a memorial to Ennis citizen Tim Guana who was tragically killed in the USS Cole bombing. His life is remembered through a feature piece of environmental art as well as engaging interpretive messaging and moments throughout the landscape and within the park’s architecture.
